While everything from jewelry to Dior bags has come her way, the best gift wasn’t the most expensive. "[Fans] have given me pickles because they know I really love them," the former Lizzie McGuire star once told Teen People. "I like it when fans do research and know a lot about me."
- Her father’s girlfriend
Though rumored to be about Nicole Richie, who is pregnant and dating Duff’s ex Joel Madden, the song’s inspiration runs closer to home. "My sister and I wrote that record about a woman who had a relationship with my father and kind of broke up a big part of my family," Duff told Teen People. "It’s so strange that someone would say those lyrics are written about [Nicole] when it’s so obviously not."
- Undercover dork
She had a long-term relationship with Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden, but Duff doesn’t only date rockers. "I like someone that’s kind of an undercover dork," said the 19-year-old, who has been spotted recently with N.Y. Islanders hockey player Mike Comrie (right). "I’m like an undercover dork. It’s tool time! In the grunge-tastic ’90s, Hilary and Haylie found themselves enamored with the clean-cut Taylor brothers (Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Zachery Ty Bryan and Taran Noah Smith) of the long-running ABC sitcom. "When we were little we loved the Home Improvement boys," the Duff sisters once told PEOPLE.

While the teen media mogul earns more than $12 million per movie and has sold 13 million plus albums worldwide, she hasn’t indulged in her one dream purchase: a $100,000 Porsche Cayenne Turbo, thanks to her business manager, who kindly reminded her that she was "a terrible driver" and didn’t "need that kind of power." Back in 2002 the fellow teen queens turned bitter rivals when both were squired around town by the same blond popster: Aaron Carter. In retaliation, Lohan took potshots at Duff while hosting SNL, and Duff’s song "Haters" is rumored to be about the rehabbing starlet. By last March, the frenemies had made up at Hollywood club Teddy’s. "Whatever happened happened when we were young," Duff told PEOPLE of the five-year rift. "It’s over!"

Though she has other pets (most adopted from local animal shelters), the singer admits that "Miss Lola," who was purchased from a Florida pet store, is her pampered favorite. "She’s spoiled. She has a hot-pink [carrying] pouch and a cheetah-print one," Duff explained to PEOPLE. "But once you wash them a couple of times, they’re not as soft. She won’t even get in. She’s like, ‘Uh-uh.’ "
- Cleanliness
"There’s no competition between us or rivalry," says Duff of her big sis and sometime roommate, Haylie, 22. However, the younger Duff admits that when do they argue, it’s straight out of an episode of The Odd Couple. "I’m a little more of a clean freak and she manages to leave a trail throughout the whole house of this … stuff. So that’s something we fight about."
