Hilary Duff now with Polish dance Remixers WAWA

Stand by this summer as US superstar singer Hilary Duff returns alongside Polish dance remixers WAWA with the sensational Stranger, released on Hollywood Records via the Angel Music Group on September 03rd 2007.

Stranger sees Hilary continue her musical reinvention, hooking up with WAWA to produce an infectious slice of dance/pop heaven that is already topping club charts across the UK and the rest of the world.

The track has been building as a very hot limited promo since the start of summer and was dropped peak-time at the holy-grail of superclubs, Space in Ibiza, during the opening party. It was also awarded ‘Tune of the Week’ in their weekly podcast.

Co-written by Hilary herself, the lyrics reveal a relationship that is picture perfect in public, but cold behind closed doors.

Stanger is also included on Hilary’s critically acclaimed electro album Dignity. Here’s what the UK critics said about this confident collection of cool pop:

Dignity sees Hilary metamorphose into a moody, electro princess. The best tracks hold their own against Kylie. Duff as ever is charmingly chameleon-like The Guardian

It is pop of the sleekest kind. Hilary has been reinvented. Music Week

All in all this new direction works and might surprise a few ears. The Sun

She’s the hottest singer turned actress. Hilary’s fabulously camp new album will bring disco back with a feast of floor fillers. Company Magazine

Dignity debuted at No.4 in the USA, continuing Hilary’s amazing run of success. Her US No.1 solo debut album Metamorphosis sold 4 times platinum, followed by her self-titled and Most Wanted collections, both of which sold 3 million records. In the UK Hilary has hit the Top 10 with songs Wake Up and So Yesterday. Her Most Wanted album has to date sold over 100,000 copies in the UK, achieving Gold status.

WAWA are Polish duo Vic and Bojan. Over the past six years they have built a solid reputation as top notch DJs and producers. 2007 has seen WAWA’s profile raised even further thanks to their excellent remix of Stonebridge’s SOS a No.1 club record in the UK, and their remix for JoJo which went Top 3 in the club charts and was hammered by Scott Mills on Radio One.

Hilary is currently in rehearsals for her upcoming world tour, due to hit UK shores this autumn.

Hilary Duff Pop Quiz:Think You Know Hilary Duff ?

People.com has started a POP Quiz questioning about Hilary, her fan gossips, her crushes and boyfriends, her songs, her family, her father, sister Haylie, and much more just in the mere eight questions. See them yourself.

Better see the questions, guess the answer and verify yourself.

  1. According to Hilary, what was the best fan gift she ever received?
  2. Who inspired Hilary to write the song "Gypsy Woman"?
  3. Which phrase has Hilary used to describe the kind of guy she’s looking for?
  4. Which set of TV brothers did Hilary have a huge crush on growing up?
  5. What is the one splurge that Hilary has yet to give in to?
  6. What caused the rivalry between Hilary and Lindsay Lohan?
  7. Hilary has joined Hollywood’s love affair with miniature pooches. Her pup Lola is a…
  8. What is the one thing Hilary and sister Haylie fight about?

Answers:

  1. A jar of pickles

While everything from jewelry to Dior bags has come her way, the best gift wasn’t the most expensive. "[Fans] have given me pickles because they know I really love them," the former Lizzie McGuire star once told Teen People. "I like it when fans do research and know a lot about me."

  2. Her father’s girlfriend

Though rumored to be about Nicole Richie, who is pregnant and dating Duff’s ex Joel Madden, the song’s inspiration runs closer to home. "My sister and I wrote that record about a woman who had a relationship with my father and kind of broke up a big part of my family," Duff told Teen People. "It’s so strange that someone would say those lyrics are written about [Nicole] when it’s so obviously not."

  3. Undercover dork

She had a long-term relationship with Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden, but Duff doesn’t only date rockers. "I like someone that’s kind of an undercover dork," said the 19-year-old, who has been spotted recently with N.Y. Islanders hockey player Mike Comrie (right). "I’m like an undercover dork. Someone who thinks the lifestyle we lead is funny."

  4. The Taylors, Home Improvement

It’s tool time! In the grunge-tastic ’90s, Hilary and Haylie found themselves enamored with the clean-cut Taylor brothers (Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Zachery Ty Bryan and Taran Noah Smith) of the long-running ABC sitcom. "When we were little we loved the Home Improvement boys," the Duff sisters once told PEOPLE.

  5. A Porsche

While the teen media mogul earns more than $12 million per movie and has sold 13 million plus albums worldwide, she hasn’t indulged in her one dream purchase: a $100,000 Porsche Cayenne Turbo, thanks to her business manager, who kindly reminded her that she was "a terrible driver" and didn’t "need that kind of power." Maybe next year!

  6. They were both dating the same guy

Back in 2002 the fellow teen queens turned bitter rivals when both were squired around town by the same blond popster: Aaron Carter. In retaliation, Lohan took potshots at Duff while hosting SNL, and Duff’s song "Haters" is rumored to be about the rehabbing starlet. By last March, the frenemies had made up at Hollywood club Teddy’s. "Whatever happened happened when we were young," Duff told PEOPLE of the five-year rift. "It’s over!"

  7. Chihuahua

Though she has other pets (most adopted from local animal shelters), the singer admits that "Miss Lola," who was purchased from a Florida pet store, is her pampered favorite. "She’s spoiled. She has a hot-pink [carrying] pouch and a cheetah-print one," Duff explained to PEOPLE. "But once you wash them a couple of times, they’re not as soft. She won’t even get in. She’s like, ‘Uh-uh.’ "

  8. Cleanliness

"There’s no competition between us or rivalry," says Duff of her big sis and sometime roommate, Haylie, 22. However, the younger Duff admits that when do they argue, it’s straight out of an episode of The Odd Couple. "I’m a little more of a clean freak and she manages to leave a trail throughout the whole house of this … stuff. So that’s something we fight about."

Duff Banned From Buying a Porsche

August 20, 2007

If you happen to see Hilary Duff on the road, I suggest you steer clear! Apparently the Duffster is such a bad driver that her manager has banned her from purchasing a Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

She says, "The car I want is a Porsche Cayenne Turbo. But my business manager doesn't want me to buy it - he says that I'm a terrible driver and don't need that kind of car.

"The other day I had a little accident because I was driving while I was on the phone. It was just a tap, nothing serious, so I thought, I'll keep going it's fine, whatever. But my business manager told me, 'You have to be careful, because people will sue you.' So I need to be cautious."

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a pretty bad driver too, isn't that our thing though? Us L.A. people all have road rage, we blame it on 'traffic' but realistically everyone here is always in such a hurry to get places...and of course it doesn't help that we're always on the phone.

Duff for president?

(Monday August 20, 2007 08:06 AM)

Actress/singer Hilary Duff insists she knows the secret to a successful career as a politician - introduce a five-day weekend.
The 19-year-old Material Girls star was posed a question on how to address problems in the U.S. if she was President.

And Duff was quick to answer, saying, "There are so many issues in America. Our involvement in the Iraq war is the most obvious, and also the way some people are treated. I would also change the weekends to workdays, and have the whole week as a weekend."

"Then I'd be a popular politician wouldn't I?"

Hilary Duff speaks about herself

Go through the interview

"I'm just one little person with so much money.
I've got so much it's scary. It's amazing to think that I can take care of myself financially, as well as everyone around me. That's a really nice feeling.

The car I want is a Porsche Cayenne Turbo. But my business manager doesn't want me to buy it – he says that I'm a terrible driver and don't need that kind of car.

I love cars, but I'm trying to scale down, because you don't need more than one.

It's excessive. At the moment I have a white Range Rover, and I used to have a Mercedes SL500. I care about the environment, but I wouldn't buy a hybrid car.

The other day I had a little accident because I was driving while I was on the phone. It was just a tap, nothing serious, so I thought, I'll keep going, it's fine, whatever.
But my business manager told me, 'You have to be careful, because people will sue you.'

So I need to be cautious without stressing myself out.
It's hard to imagine going more than 72 hours without shopping. Because I work all the time, when I get the chance to shop I go crazy. If you don't get excited when you get new things, then what's it all worth?
I have 50 bags and ten watches.

I was just in Chicago and bought a Louis Vuitton bag for $1,400 and bought my sister one, too. I did a little dance.
I've got a rose-gold Jacob watch and a Rolex that I got in Germany, black with a rose-gold starburst face.
I think it cost $11,000. Both my houses are in LA.
The one I live in is a big Spanish six-bedroom house with an Olympic-size swimming pool. My mum lives in the other one.

Also, my sister and I own land in Texas – it just sits and makes money, I think. I don't know too much about it.
The most extravagant thing I've done is rent a huge jet to fly my family back to LA from Texas.

Haylie and my mother and I got on to this beautiful plane, and we couldn't believe we had created this lifestyle, with our dogs running around the plane and champagne and great food and chocolates.

My mum said, 'Look at our lives', and we cried. It's sad what girls like Paris, Britney and Lindsay go through.
I feel for them. I am so lucky that I am somewhat sane.
That's not a judgment. It's easy for me to say, 'Look, she shaved her head, she can't get her life together, she's a mess.'

But when you have 75 paparazzi outside your house every day, it's horrible. It was right that Paris Hilton went to jail.
It was horrible that she had to go through that, but so many of the people I grew up with in Texas have gone to jail for drinking and driving, so why shouldn't she?
I don't want to go down the same road as Lindsay Lohan.
I can't say why she ended up in rehab and why that scene interests her.

I focus on my work. I don't mix with people who take drugs and don't go out clubbing and partying all the time.

Lindsay and I fell out when we were 13. We didn't like each other because we were dating the same guy – pop star Aaron Carter.

How was I supposed to know he was dating her, too?
But she was angry because she thought I had stolen her boyfriend. Now we are fine. We see each other, but we are into different things.

My dad is a stranger to me. When my parents split up last year, it hit me like a brick in the face. Usually, parents get divorced when you are young, but mine were together while I was growing up, so I thought it would never happen.

For some reason, I was embarrassed that my family wasn't perfect and that some woman had broken it up. I don't talk to my dad at all. I love him and hopefully some day we will have a relationship, but we probably won't for a long time.
What does anyone go through when they find out their dad has a totally different life with a different woman and has never really cared about you?

That's pretty hard to deal with. So last year was tough for my mum, my sister and me. We were always really close, but now I think we are closer, and we are at peace with everything. But for a while it devastated every part of my world. He hasn't tried to have a relationship with Haylie and I since it happened. I wrote about my parents' divorce.

When we found out that my dad was being unfaithful, I imagined what it would be like for me to be in my mum's situation.

My new single Stranger and the song Gypsy Woman are about my parents' divorce, not about my break-up.
Guitar music is my favourite. For years now I've listened to Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt, Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette and anything by Morrissey, especially Suedehead.

I'm obsessed with The Cure and I've downloaded all their songs on iTunes.

Joel [Madden] was my first love, but I feel happier now we've split. I didn't leave Joel to be with someone else.
I felt like I needed to be myself for a while. But I felt disrespected when he went off with Nicole Richie, because he moved on to another girl so quickly.

I've been on lots of dates, but I haven't met anyone I like – isn't that crazy? I work so hard and there's no time.

The last thing I want to do is jump into a relationship that's as serious as my last one was at my age. But I still want the cookie-cutter American dream: to get married and have kids and a house with a white picket fence.

The rumours that I'm dating Frankie Delgado [a club promoter] aren't true; we're good friends.

I wouldn't make the first move with a guy. I get really shy.
I asked my friend to help me and teach me how it's done, so she saw a guy walking down Sunset Boulevard who was cute and shouted, 'Hey, I want to talk to you.'

They ended up getting married, but I could never, ever do that. My taste in men is really weird.

Everyone thinks I like older rocker guys with tattoos, like Joel, but it's not true.

I like older men. I think actor Ryan Reynolds is really cute, and so is Christian Bale, but he's married. I have the biggest crush on John Cusack. We became close friends making War, Inc. We were stuck in Bulgaria forever and played board games all night. And we like a lot of the same music. We would be constantly burning CDs for each other, going, 'You've got to listen to this!' He suggested a lot of old artists like John Lennon, Bob Dylan and Crosby, Stills & Nash.

For my new film I play an overtly sexual East European pop star. She is bitchy and horrible to everyone around her. It's a really twisted satire. My character is attracted to anything and everything and throws herself at John Cusack, but he's not into it.

Some wouldn't, but I enjoy the business side of my work.
It's so funny that people think I'm a mogul or a brand, but it's true, I know a lot about running a business. I like to know exactly where my money is going. I love luxury.
I go to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico for weekends a lot and to a beautiful spa in Santa Barbara called Bacara.
But sometimes my friends and I slum it and hang out at the beach in Malibu and rent a motel.

All the same, I want a normal life. I want to be able to ride my bike in my neighbourhood and walk to my favourite coffee shop and not have craziness round me all the time.
I like a glass of wine and I'll have champagne, but I don't get drunk. I go home and cut roses; that's exciting enough for me.

The 5-Minute Interview with Hilary Duff

'I'm very bad at driving - my garage sometimes jumps out at me'
Interview by John Kiely
Published: 18 August 2007

Hilary Duff, 19, made her name in the TV show "Lizzie McGuire:. She has since appeared "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "A Cinderella Story". She is now embarking on a music career with a single "Stranger" by WAWA vs Hilary, released on 20 August. An album, "Dignity", is out now.

If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be ...

At home with my dogs, or swimming because the weather is really hot.
I wish people would take more notice of ...
My work, instead of my personal life. It seems all people want to know about is what I'm doing in my free time.
The most surprising thing that ever happened to me was...
I guess my career itself - most of all my first two tours. I had never been on tour before and I didn't know people cared about my music.
A common misperception of me is ...
That people think I am perfect, and not a normal person. Young people my age that have the same sort of careers seem to be always acting crazy. Because I am not pictured doing these things, I am criticised for being too perfect. But if I was I would be criticised too.
I'm not a politician but ...
There are so many issues in America. Our involvement in the war is the most obvious, and also the way some people are treated. I would also change the weekends to workdays, and have the whole week as a weekend, then I'd be a popular politician, wouldn't I?
I'm good at ...
Baking, my special is cookies. I'm also good athlete, and a good friend.
I'm very bad at ...
Driving. My garage sometimes jumps out at me. The other day I heard a scratch as I was pulling my car out. I thought I just ran over some bubble wrap so I kept going. When I got out, I saw my mirror was hanging off. Everyone is scared to get in the car with me.
The ideal night out is ...
It depends on my mood. Last night my sister and I just stayed in and had a meal, had a swim and watched a film, and it was so nice to just chill out. Other times I want to dance and stay out late.
The best age to be is ...
I don't know, but I think 23-24 will be cool.
In a nutshell, my philosophy is ...
Live and let live. If we could all forget our egos and realise we all want the same things we would all be a lot happier

Nicole Kent is to meet Hilary Duff, Duff Fan is going to meet her IDOL

By MONIQUE BEECH
Local News - Thursday, August 16, 2007 Updated @ 10:13:20 PM

Oh .. my ... God!

September is totally a huge month for 11-year-old Nicole Kent.

She turns a whole year older in 39 days.

Bigger still, she meets teen star and Disney darling Hilary Duff in 21 days.

This St. Catharines girl has been counting down to stardom since she was born, and meeting the squeaky clean singer/actress/teen idol on Sept. 6 may be the first step to becoming famous.

Nicole beat out more than 3,000 other ’tweens for the chance to meet Duff, and model the star’s clothing line: stuff by hilary duff.

She’ll join two other gushing girls — Anna Iliscupidez, 12, of Red Deer, Alta., and Emma Gallagher, 6, of Harvey, N.B. — in Toronto next month to meet the 19-year-old Duff, star of Lizzie McGuire and Cheaper by the Dozen. Plus, she’ll be taken there by limo and receive a $1,000 shopping spree.

All together girls: “No way!!”

And this born fashionista, who tests out her outfits on a dress form before sliding them on, is pretty low key about her upcoming brush with fame.

She’s already, you know, gone to acting camp and had meetings with local modelling firms.

She takes singing lessons.

Last year, she saw Duff in concert at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton and sat just five rows back.

Nicole wants more than to meet Duff. She wants to be the next Duff.

Hello, Duff was just 11 years old when she scored her first major movie role in the 1998 film Casper Meets Wendy.

“I just really want to be in the spotlight,” said Nicole, who’s going into Grade 7 at St. Ann School in Port Dalhousie.

“I want to be famous, like, I really like Dakota Fanning. I really like her. I watch TV and I always say, ‘I wish I could be them.’ ”

Sure, she’s excited about meeting Duff.

She knows the words to nearly every Duff song. There are four albums, with the most recent called Dignity.

She’s watched her movies.

“She’s, like, my favourite actress,” Nicole said.

“My favourite singer. I just want to be like her. I want to still be myself, yet be like her,” the sweet, pale blond beauty said with a giggle.

Mom Alyson said she and her husband, Tom, could tell early on that their youngest yearned for the limelight.

As soon as she could walk, Nicole was putting outfits together and showing them off.

“I would probably go to all lengths for her to do it because she never lets up on it, right?” Alyson said.

“It’s been really almost 10 years of wanting to be in the limelight.”

Older sister Sarah, 13, is still stunned Nicole won the Hilary Duff model search.

To win it, Nicole submitted pictures and a 50-word essay, which were judged by Duff and executives from Ford Models and Zellers, where the stuff by hilary duff clothing line and home line are sold.

“I didn’t expect Nikki to win,” said Sarah, a Grade 9 student at St. Francis Secondary School.

“There were so many people and she won.”

Eldest sister Samantha, 17, said she’s pretty envious. She was too old to apply.

“I wish it was me,” Samantha said wistfully.

“I am a Duff fan. I’ve liked her ever since she first came out and I was just a kid.”

Nicole is still working out what she’ll say to Duff at their big meeting. She’s also trying to decide if this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity signals the start of her teenage career in acting/modelling/singing — just like her icon.

“I really want to stay with my friends at school,” Nicole said thoughtfully.

“Maybe in, like, college I’d go to Toronto or somewhere or New York, and get famous. That’s when things will happen.”

Nicole’s photos will be featured in Zellers flyers, and at hilaryduff.com and zellers.com.

Duff’s Canadian tour kicked off July 28 in Winnipeg and ends in Sault Ste. Marie on Sept. 11.
